The Energy Efficiency Standards Group activity identifies the feasibility and cost of increased energy efficiency for different appliances. Position Overview: Senior Research Associate
The Research Associate will:
* Research and analyze technical data for residential and commercial appliances specifically for energy efficiency appliance projects.
* Perform comprehensive market and technology assessments of appliances.
* Write energy efficiency standards documentation.
* Develop database applications, as needed
* Develop quantitative and analytical tools, including complex spreadsheets for energy and economic analysis to help research and evaluate the impact of energy efficiency standards for consumer electronics, batteries, power supplies, motors, distribution transformers, and other appliances, as assigned.
* Provide additional support in the form of preparing presentation materials, reviewing project related papers and compiling information, as needed.
Contribute to preparing LBNL reports, prepare tables and graphs, and write sections of reports.
Job Requirements:
Qualifications:
* Demonstrated familiarity with energy efficiency technologies.
* Excellent understanding of the appliance technologies and knowledge of relevant energy efficiency test procedures.
* Capable of conducting research to model actual equipment operation in the field.
* Extensive knowledge of energy efficient appliances, technologies and policies.
* Strong quantitative skills to conduct economic and engineering analysis of energy efficiency, as needed.
* Track record of initiative, as well as collaboration and organizational skills.
* Proven technical writing and excellent verbal communication skills.
* Proficiency with MS Office.
* Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience in electrical engineering or a related field, and 2 years of related work experience.
