Job Description

The Wafering Maintenance Technician operates, maintains and troubleshoots silicon cutting machine tools in a 24×7 production operation and supports engineers and equipment improvement projects.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in on-site, operations and maintenance training on new production equipment with the goal of being the on-site “expert” on tool operation, maintenance and troubleshooting. Specific tools include grinders, band saw, ID saw, wire saw and robotics/automation around these tools, where attention to tool setup and monitoring is critical to product quality.
  • Team leader by training operators and new maintenance technicians up to a proficiency of being able to conduct preventive maintenance and basic troubleshooting on the process equipment.
  • Recording of work performed, machine status, process deviations, spare parts used within established MES framework to build useful knowledge base and drive continuous improvements.
  • Work with engineers/vendor to further develop and improve SOP for equipment PM’s and problem resolution to ensure maximum uptime, and rapid recovery from tool-down events.
  • Work to ensure critical spare parts are in stock and in system.
  • Report daily/weekly on outstanding equipment issues.


Job Requirements:

Qualifications/Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required. Associates Degree or similar preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years experience in high-volume industry in the operation and maintenance of production machine tools such as mills, lathes, saws, grinders, lappers/polishers or similar. In depth understanding of the accuracy of tool setup and how it relates to tool performance.
  • Some hands-on working knowledge of automation such as micro-controllers, robot handling, pneumatics, tool software for recipe and parameter management.
  • Hands-on experience with machine shop metrology such as rulers, calipers, micrometers, comparator.
  • Experience in applied statistics desirable.
  • Fluent in reading and interpreting technical drawings, schematics, flow charts and complex procedures.
  • Math skills to compute rate, ratio, basic statistics, draw and interpret Pareto and fishbone diagrams.
  • Manage multiple tasks and set priorities with little supervision.
  • Keen sense of workplace safety including practicing safe handling and maintenance procedures involving hazardous (acidic and alkaline) chemicals.
  • Able to handle physically demanding work and moderate lifting as well as around tools using dirty slurry fluids.
  • A high integrity “can-do” attitude team player with the ability to work well with all internal and external teams and a strong sense of urgency.
  • Able to work day and night shift. Initial 6–12 month ramp-up period will require high flexibility in schedule changes and some overtime.
